The Internet’s Favorite Avengers: Age of Ultron Character is… Ultron!

Even though we’ve known since SDCC what to expect from the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, once the trailer actually went online earlier this week, fans suddenly realized how much they liked Ultron. Like, really liked him. As in, already shipping Ultron/Tony, or really Ultron/anyone. The robot villain of Joss Whedon’s new film has suddenly become something of a sex symbol.

They’ve also Photoshopped him into some hilarious posters.

The easy joke is Pinocchio. For the most part, fans seem to jibe with the admittedly odd choice of including Pinocchio’s “I’ve Got No Strings” in the trailer. (One Redditor joked, “Can’t wait for the Black Panther trailer to use a dark version of ’Everybody Wants to Be a Cat.’”) Several GIFs comparing Tony’s creation with Geppetto’s sprang up, as well as some truly creepifyin’ fan art:

Then the “strings” puns got a bit cracktastic:

Jane, no! No wonder Thor was so furious with Tony.

That one is actually weirdly fitting, since a lot of Avengers fans are struggling with impure thoughts about Ultron. Blame it on James Spader’s voice—apparently he can make anything sexy, even a murderous robot. The Daily Dot has the whole rundown, including an Ultron-only edit of the trailer and this piece of Tumblr gold: “I want Ultron to untangle my strings.”

Here’s a snicker-inducing take on the “no strings attached” joke:

This swell of adoration for and attraction to Ultron shouldn’t be surprising, considering how fandom falls all over itself about Loki. Still, it’s pretty hilarious considering the trailer has been live for less than 48 hours. No one seems to have yet asked Spader what he thinks of the unexpected sexiness of Ultron, though he did have this to say about his character: “He’s really bats—t crazy!”
